  3.       Command identifiers must be entered exactly as they are in the
  4.     manual.  They must begin with a period in the first column and end
  5.     with a colon.  All non printable characters must be entered in the
  6.     format "\DDD" where DDD is the decimal ASCII code of the character.
  7.     Three digits must be used.  Comments can be interspersed throughout
  8.     this file, however, nothing but the printer codes can be on the
  9.     command lines.  The commands can be in any order.

  15.    The codes in this file are the same as the defaults in the program.
  16.  
  17.         The printer command is for cosmetic purposes only.  It is there
  18.     to describe what printer these codes are for.  The three column
  19.     commands are to enable your printer to print correctly if your
  20.     compressed mode is not exactly 17 characters per inch(cpi).  To
  21.     arrive at the appropriate number, multiply the exact cpi by 8 (the
  22.     width of the paper).  For example, on the HP LaserJet II the
  23.     compressed print setting is 16.66 cpi.  The COMP_COL command would
  24.     be 133 (16.66 * 8).  However, in the compressed mode there is a 9
  25.     space margin so the actual number of printed columns would be 124 if
  26.     there were no line numbers being printed.

  28.         The PRINTER parameter can not be more than 15 characters long.
